The first GTR (R30 GTR) was actually built by Prince Motor Company but later went under Nissan’s brand and was announced in 1969. The car had a 2.0 liter inline 6 making 160hp and a 5 speed manual as its only option. It came with two different models, a 2-door, and a 4-door. The car was produced between 1969 to 1972.

The successor to the R30 GTR would be the R31 GTR. The car came with the same engine form the R30. The main difference from the R30 and the R31 would be the styling. The car came with a much longer hood and only had a 2-door option. Unfortunately the car only had 1 year of production and only 197 cars were made due to the gas crisis of the 1970s.

The R32 GTR was the first true GTR many people be believe. The car looks nothing like its predecessor with a more modern styling. The car also came with a completely new engine and an all-wheel drive system. The inline-6 engine came with twin turbos making 313hp. More than 43,000 models were made with in the 5-year production time (1989 to 1994).

The R33 GTR came with a much more aggressive front and rear end of the car. The engine staid the same but was tune to make 276hp and did a 0-60mph in 4.0 seconds. This car competed in many racing events like the very popular 24h of Le Mans as a limited GT-LM racecar. The R33 only had 3 years of production, from 1995 to 1998.

The R34 is the most popular GTR due to its feature in the Fast and the Furious movies. The car had the same engine for the previous two car but instead of the 5-speed gearbox, the R34 had a 6-speed. The car also came with a four-wheel drive system. This model was made from 1999 to 2002.
