International Career

In 2012, Irving was nominated for a position on the Australian Team for the 2012 Olympics. But, he was not elected to be a part of the team. Instead, he focused on being part of the United States National Team for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Irving was part of the United States National team for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. He lead the team to a gold medal and was named tournament MVP. He started all nine games in the tournament and averaged 12.1 points and 3.1 assists. In the gold medal game he had helpful 26 points. He was named 2014 Male Basketball Athlete of the Year.

In 2016, Irving yet again led the US National Team to a gold medal during the 2016 Summer Olympics. Also, he became the fourth member of Team USA to win a gold medal and a NBA Championship, joining Lebron James. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
