Drazen dominated from an early age, making the finals with his local team in Europe twice by the age of 15. Petrovic ended up being drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers at 60th overall. His first season was 89-90 NBA season. Petrovic was upset with his lack of play time, and eventually requested a trade out of Portland, which was acted on and he was traded to the New Jersey Nets. Petrovic stepped up in the 91-92 season, with a better fit in New Jersey, where he averaged 26.6 points. Petrovic was known for his three, making 44% of his shots from the perimeter that season. On June 7, 1993, tragedy struck and Drazen Petrovic died in a car accident in Germany. He is widely respected and regarded as one of the biggest players to leave the game early.
